Based on a popular box car produced by ACF (American Car ; Foundry) from the late 1940 through the mid-1950, this model is representative of the thousands of similar cars that ran on virtually all North American rail lines. The 40¢ Sliding Door Box Car, considered an American tradition, was originally built to transport goods in the harsh weather found in various parts of the United States.
This car features such accurate details as the diagonal roof panels and improved dreadnaught ends characteristic of the prototype.

During the heyday of rail transport, livestock was routinely shipped in complete trainloads to packing plants throughout the country. The typical stock car was based upon a 40¢ box car modified with open slat sides and possibly internal decking for the smaller breeds of animals. Designed primarily for transporting cows and pigs, original stock cars date back to the 1860, and could carry up to 20,000 pounds of livestock.
Their use became rare by the 1980, due to humane, safety and cost concerns. This ATLAS O TRAINMAN model is a typical reproduction of a once-common freight car style. Resplendent with eye-popping details and engineered for reliability and historical accuracy, the ATLAS O TRAINMAN 40¢ Stock Car is a must-have addition to any O Scale

Atlas 676 52'6" O Scale C&O Gondola (2 Rail)
Based upon another popular prototype car by ACF (American Car ; Foundry), this ATLAS O TRAINMAN model captures the look and function of one of the most utilitarian of all freight cars. Often called, “the work horse of the steel industry, the gondola is basically a flat car with sides, allowing more, and different types, of loads to be transported.
The gondola dates to about 1830 and was first used on early railways and tramways to move coal. Ours features crisp detailing, including a see-through brakewheel platform and accurate painting and printing. The ATLAS O TRAINMAN gondola will find as many uses on a model railroad as the prototype did on the great rail lines of America!
