Lionel 1060 2-4-2 Plastic Steam Locomotive - No Tender

Here is a Lionel 1060 Plastic 2-4-2 Scout Steam Locomotive Only, from 1960-62. The 1060 steam locomotive is frequently referred to as a Scout locomotive. Lionel used the word Scout to denote its entry-level 027 steam locomotives. Generally speaking, Scout engines had a 2-4-2 wheel arrangement and were reserved for beginner or starter sets. These locomotives had few features and could rarely pull more than a three or four car freight train. The 1060 included a slightly more advanced motor assembly when compared to Scout steamers from the prior year and is a fairly good and reliable running locomotive. The 1060 was introduced in 1960 in the consumer Advanced Catalogue. It was available in numerous catalogued and uncatalogued sets and was a very basic steam locomotive of the time as it had few features. Lionel 1665 Die-Cast Steam Switcher & Tender EX-

The Lionel Switcher Type 0-4-0-Locomotive No. 1665 was available in 1946. It shares a 1662M-2 motor with the pre-war No. 1662. This black painted die-cast boiler came with red jewels on the front and a silver rubber-stamped number on the cab. This engine has a three-position directional unit whose control lever protrudes from the top of the boiler right in front of the sand dome and there are two electrical receptacles on the motor to accept electrical plugs from the tender. The left hand plug was for the front electronic coupler and the other plug provided a better ground for the motor. This locomotive has a headlight lens and is lighted in the front and there is a nickel ornamental bell with a bracket on top.The No. 2403B tender is heat-stamped in widely separated letters "LIONEL LINES," and is equipped with an operating bell, a working back-up light, wire handrail and came with staple-end trucks that have one electronic coupler.
